Common Questions by Program Stage

Here's what participants typically want to know at each phase of their business planning journey.

1 Before You Enroll

Do I need an existing business idea to participate?

Not necessarily. About half our participants come with specific concepts, while others use the program to explore and develop ideas. The market research components often help clarify direction.

What's the time commitment like for working professionals?

Classes meet Tuesday evenings from 6:30-9:00 PM, plus one Saturday workshop per month. Most homework can be completed in 2-3 hours weekly, often during your commute or lunch breaks.

Are there prerequisites or educational requirements?

No formal requirements. We've had participants ranging from recent graduates to seasoned professionals changing careers. The diversity of backgrounds actually enriches class discussions.

2 During Your Program

How much individual attention can I expect?

Each participant receives monthly one-on-one sessions with instructors, plus email support for specific questions. The small class sizes mean you're not competing for attention.

What happens if I miss a class or fall behind?

All sessions are recorded for makeup viewing, and instructors offer catch-up appointments. We understand life happens, especially for working adults managing multiple responsibilities.

Will I actually finish with a complete business plan?

Yes, that's the primary goal. Most participants complete a 15-20 page comprehensive plan they can use for funding applications or investor presentations. Some have used these plans successfully within months of graduation.

3 After Program Completion

Do you provide ongoing support after the program ends?

Alumni have access to quarterly meetups, updated resource libraries, and can schedule follow-up consultations at reduced rates. Many graduates stay connected through our informal networking group.

How many participants actually start their businesses?

About 60% launch within two years of completion. Others use their plans to advance within existing companies or pivot to better opportunities. Success looks different for everyone.

Can you help with connections to investors or lenders?

We maintain relationships with regional development organizations and can make appropriate introductions when your business plan is ready. However, securing funding depends on many factors beyond our control.
